Ghost Town

Staff Writer: DL Mullan

4 ½ out of 5 shovels
A cold hearted, bastard of a dentist goes into a routine medical procedure, but instead he dies for seven minutes. When he woke, he began to see the dead. Every spirit began following him around so that their loved ones could be helped. He does every thing not to help anyone except for one spirit who makes a deal with him.

On his way to spirit nullification, the dentist falls in love with the ghost’s former wife. He tries to sweep her off her feet but only forms a rift between him and his intended. She does not believe his psychic excuse.

Undaunted, the dentist tries one last time to convince her of his sincerity. As she begins to open up to him, he nearly dies. At the end, romance is saved by the need for a dentist.

A Christmas Carol meets French Kiss scenario is aptly played by Ricky Gervais, Tea Leoni, and Craig Kinnear. Now on DVD.

Princess of Thieves

Staff Writer: DL Mullan

4 out of 5 Shovels
Gwyn is the daughter of the most famous hoodlum in history. Her father is Robin Hood. But her fire and rebellious nature simmer under the surface. She ready to fight. She ready for action.

Robin quells her. He doesn’t realize Gwyn is impulsive. Just like him.

Just as King Richard succumbs to death, Prince Phillip is on his way to the throne. Prince John could succeed to King if Phillip is eliminated. Add the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, Friar Tuck, Froderick, and Merry Men and the fight begins.

Keira Knightley, Malcolm McDowell, Del Synnott, Stuart Wilson, Crispin Letts, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Jonathan Hyde, and Stephen Moyer are believable as characters from centuries past.

This film is a good live-action Disney flick. Comic book violence and innocent romance are a part of this movie, but so is the relationship between father and daughter.

At 88 minutes and a PG rating, this movie is good for the underage crowd.
