Last of the Air Benders

Staff Writer: Samuntha Mackenzie

2 1/2 out of 5 shovels
The Last Air Bender was not a great movie, but it wasn't the worse I have ever seen. Somewhere in the middle of the genre. M. Night does do a lot with action and plot points.

As a movie goer, the film should have been chopped up into different films. An element per film would have slowed down the pace, given the film makers better world building time, and allowed for characterization.

A Girlfriend for Rathbone

Staff Writer: Samuntha Mackenzie

With credits in upcoming features such as the Twilight saga and The Last Airbender, Jackson Rathbone might see his fan base grow. If you don't know already, he plays Jasper Hale in the tween flick(s).

In September, Jackson will attempt a different kind of character: a shady man. The movie has been compared to a loose adaptation of the Beauty and Beast concept. Jackson will be able to stretch his talents on film and behind the scenes.

The director of the film, Justin Lerner states that: "Jackson's going to play a morally complex character, a charming and dangerous lead, jealous and diabolical, where you're not going to know if you love him or hate him. That kind of complexity will be interesting for him to tackle. It's going to be a very dark and offbeat performance."

Casting is still ongoing. No IMDB exists yet for the film.

Girlfriend is being produced by Jackson Rathbone and his band mate, Jerad Anderson.

Night for Airbender

Staff Writer: Grave Digger

M. Night Shalayman has been quiet since his Scifi expose went haywire and he's last movie tanked at the box office. Where has our strange, nerdy, but interesting creator been? He's been working on the Last Airbender.

Based on a kids cartoon that combines American and Anime principles, the Last Airbender had a sixty plus episode run. In this story, manipulators of Earth, Wind, (not the singers) and Water battle the evil Fire Lord.

Cast listing includes: Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Nicola Peltz, Noah Ringer, Jessica Andres, and Shaun Toub.

The movie is set for release into US theaters on July 2, 2010.

Youtube has the official teaser trailer.

A poster for the movie has been released as well.
