UnderWorld 4 for 2011

Underworld has a sequel in the works. No word yet on the plot or the characters. We do know Kate Beckinsale has been attached.

The film will not be shot in 3D as reported before, but nonetheless the film was pushed back from January 2011 to September 2011.

Tron Legacy Speeds Ahead

Fox's Narnia franchise has some competition coming in December of 2010. Tron Legacy with Garrett Hedlund and Jeff Bridges will open on December 17th.

The synopsis:

Inside the ENCOM computer system, a program called CLU, created by Kevin Flynn during the original fight against the Master Control Program, has been causing chaos and destruction across the grid. Sean Flynn, son of former ENCOM CEO Kevin Flynn, is in search of his missing father, but Sean discovers that his father's whereabouts are somehow connected to the program making a mess of the ENCOM system. In order to find his father, Sean has to go into the ENCOM system, and fight his way to CLU, but in the neon world of TRON, a lot has changed and new dangers await him at every turn.

Tron Legacy is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world thats unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his fathers disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevins loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous. Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans

In this prequel to Underworld and Underworld 2, Rise of the Lycans refreshes the franchise.

Though most of the movie is dark and gloomy, Lucian and Sonja's love brighten the Shakespearen drama. Romeo and Juliet conquer adversity and diversity only to have one perish and the other wage a war for the ages.

Underworld 3 has a quality the other two films lacked: passion. Action and violence were the center of the other movies. This film centered on the relationship between two star-crossed lovers that led to action and violence. A much better combination of factors.

The script was livelier, less derivitive and repetitive. I like a jaunt on the wild side as anyone else, but good lines are essential for every character, or filmmakers run into the gambit of campiness.

Luckily, Rise of the Lycans avoided many of its predecesors pitfalls.
