In the post production stage, Narnia's Voyage of the Dawn Treader news is slow but forthcoming. Only thirty-five minutes as been completed on this film. So to enlighten us in the meantime, we have a peek at the new posters.

A large poster has all the main characters. Reepicheep and King Caspian are on one side.



For another poster, Aslan and Reepicheep are featured. The Dawn Treader is in Aslan's iris. Very creative.

Dawn Treader Preview

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe began the Narnia franchise with an impressive 3/4 of a billion dollars. Prince Caspian is a respectable, but not blockbuster, near 1/2 a billion. Mixed reviews about the Dawn Treader's future are being lauded.

Some say the third film will fall flat. Others are more hopeful.

OHG hopes that the Dawn Treader will surpass the first film and capture the hearts of the worldwide audience.


Summary: This time around—Edmund and Lucy Pevensie (Keynes and Henley), along with their pesky cousin Eustace Scrubb (Poulter)—find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world. Joining forces once again with their royal friend Prince Caspian (Barnes) and the warrior mouse Reepicheep (voiced by Izzard), they are whisked away on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands, and beyond. On this bewitching voyage that will test their hearts and spirits, the trio will face magical Dufflepuds, sinister slave traders, roaring dragons and enchanted merfolk. Only an entirely uncharted journey to Aslan's Country—a voyage of destiny and transformation for each of those aboard the Dawn Treader—can save Narnia, and all the astonishing creatures in it, from an unfathomable fate.

Narnia's Dawn Treader Film Schedule

Looking for the Chronicles of Narnia filming schedule on the Gold Coast, then look no further:

July 22 — First shots of the film were taken according to Cort Kristensen.
July 26 — Filming at the Centenary Center parking lot according to Samantha
July 27 & 28 — Principal photography (which includes the actors) began at the MovieWorld parking lot and The Southport School according to myartismylife
Aug 10–13 — Filming at The Spit Narrowhaven set
Aug 17–21 — Filming at the Jumpinpin Channel
Sept 3 — Filming at Cleveland Point for about three weeks
Late Sept — Filming returns to the Spit
Unknown — Whitsunday Islands
Mid Nov — Filming wraps

Weather has been a factor in some date and schedule changes. Sometimes rain and clouds are not in the forecast on Narnia! I wonder if Aslan knows this?

King Caspian Held Hostage

A while ago, OHG received an offer for some images of Ben Barnes as King Caspian. On further review, the pictures were found to be copyrighted through a source that wanted payment to show these pics. OHG has refused to post or pay for these images for a few reasons.

First, the images are copyrighted and the source of the pictures wasn't the copyright holder. Second, payment for public pictures? Not happening. EVER. Third, threats heard from the licensing source were abundant.

The reality is: if you threaten, we don't buy. Actually, we will never buy anything from a source that threatens others with legal action in a bid to make money. It's just not us. We are not your consumers. We just talk to your consumers.

We're not going to name names. A quick search online can give you that information. It's just a shame someone tried to extort and blackmail Narnia fans. You know, the young and young at heart.

(Don't you love our surrogate picture until promos come out?)

Our feeling is that the pictures were taken in full view of the public, why pay for that? If the images were in a studio lot, behind the scenes stuff, and of excellent quality, we understand a fair payment for work done. We do NOT feel the pictures, shown in low quality anyway, are/were worth the lawyers and fees.

Many sites (including fan sites) agree. The pictures haven't taken off. Only one site has published a single photo. That says more then a mere picture could.

Any photog, professional or amateur, take a moment and think about your audience/goals- We will publish pics of good quality. Just email us. But remember: we are poor. This site is free and free of ads (except for our favorite charities).

We are not only here for fans; we are fans. So we ask the powers that be to release their hold on those photos. Why hold King Caspian hostage?

Now what we REALLY want to say:

Dawn of Narnia Begins

Australia's Gold Coast boasts that the set of the Dawn Treader is their worst-kept secret. Other worst-kept secrets include filming in England and the crew/cast call in Australia.

Since July 15th is the start of filming on the Gold Coast, the principles must be there or on their way. Ben Barnes wrapped Valediction July 3rd. Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley and Will Poulter must be around since the England school are done.

After the November 15th wrap in Australia, no word on any more filming has transpired for the sets in England or the rumored New Zealand.

The picture used in this article is a set for the new Narnia film. Mum is the word on what it's going to be. Though the Dawn Treader herself is being built for the production, will we see her out on one of these sets? Until finished fans and on-lookers will not know what part the piece fits into the movie. Other production sets will be housed in various locations including Warner Roadshow Studios.

Sketches for the Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader have been published online. Artist Thomas Nelson, who also drew for the first two Narnia films, has given us a glimpse into that world.

Please be advised that the images maybe parts of the story that have been discarded from the script as filming has not begun yet (Dawn Treader Aussie Schedule). As well, the images are not labeled and could be throw away boards from other Narnia films.

Dawn Treader Aussie Schedule

Want to see some Narnia actors on the Gold Coast? Then visit around July 15th thru November 15th of this year. This time will see filming for the third installment.

Sorry, casting has already closed for any openings that were available to Australians.

Of course this schedule does not preclude any additional scenes.

Update 6/25: Prince Caspian filmed from Feb - August 2007 and LLW filmed from June 28 - Dec 2004. Each film took approximately six months to shoot. VotD looks to film from Jun 22? to December 2009. A year in post production for CGI work, the movie wil be ready fo audiences in December 2010.

I would guess the first leg is for the water and boat scenes with studio and castle scenes to be filmed in the future.

Update 6/23: New Zealand might see action, not Europe. Most of the film is shot "at sea." Stuff

Dawn Treader Sailing the Gold Coast

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has been confirmed by Australian officials as to the site of film production at the Gold Coast studios. The movie will use Warner Roadshow Studios' tank facilities and sound stages. As a bonus, the office will be at the film will be shot on the Gold Coast, in Redlands Shire and the Whitsundays.

For the third installment, Dawn Treader's budget will hover around the $150 million mark, making it the biggest film for the Coast since the $136 million Peter Pan in 2003.

Baja Studios in Mexico won the honor of the film first but producers were concerned about safety of the cast and crew after drug wars made it unsafe.

Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes are set to reprise their roles. Micheal Apted is set to direct.

Dawn Treader Release Date

Thank Aslan, Fox does not have its reels up its projector. After Disney dumped the franchise for monetary reason known only to the studio, Fox kept the director and actors on board, the Dawn Treader. With a rework of the script and locations finalized, a release date was issued: December 10, 2010.

A Christmas release that should have gone to Prince Caspian, instead of the eight month delay of the DVD release.

Hopefully this movie will be better put together then Disney's mess-up of the franchise.

Dawn Treader's New Writer

Fans are having mixed reviews over the new writer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (VotDT). Michael Petroni is replacing Richard LaGravanese.

With LaGravanese's experience as a scriptwriter, director, and producer, he was a good choice to pen VotDT. Petroni has a similiar background of writer and director, however the experience level is half of Disney's first choice.

Sounds like production cost is a vital concern to Fox's interpretation of the Dawn Treader. Though budgetary concerns is at the forefront of every movie, this move seems to question the quality of the script.

Walden Media with its run of good, wholesome family entertainment, we hope that the change is in the best interest of the story and not the pocketbook.

Fires, Queensland, Narnia- Oh, my!

With the devastating fires in Australia this summer (our fall), the fate of Narnia's filming might have been in question. However, Queensland looks like the place where Fox can keep their production timeline in check.

With a quick internet search, OHG discovered a film school, many production companies, and other support mechanisms on the Gold Coast. So the future looks bright for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Fox in the Narnia House

A week before Christmas 2008, Disney backed out of their deal with Walden Media to produce the third installment of the Narnia franchise.

The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader was saved by Fox. The company has worked with Walden Media in the past and now into the future.

The cast and director were kept intact by this move: Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes as well as the director Michael Apted. Our favorites return when filming begins sometime in summer of 2009 in Australia.

The expected date of release is Christmas of 2010 which is a far better date then earlier in the year: May of 2010. The film will now not be competing against Iron Man 2 and other major Hollywood releases for which curtailed the earnings of Prince Caspian (which was an excellent movie, btw).

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe Review

A Christmas children's tale about becoming a part of an adventure. During World War II, four siblings are sent into the English countryside for safety. When they arrived to the dull exploits of an uncle's home, the children discover a wardrobe full of the fantastic.

On the other side, the Pevensie children soon learn that their newfound world: Narnia, is in trouble. The White Witch has taken over Narnia, ousted the rightful ruler: Aslan, and wants to kill them to stop the prophecy.

Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie follow their own path to Aslan. Once together, the four wage war against the White Witch. In the end victorious, kings and queens of Narnia take their place.

This movie, though for kids, satisfied this adult. Full of wonder, action, and excitement, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe allowed the audience to feel the happiness, sorrow, and danger these children faced while in another land.

The musical score was understated, but I would like to have heard more instead of less in action sequences. Even though children themselves, the principles were dynamic and rich. CGI blended in well with the live action.

DVD

With the four disc edition, one can find a multitude of extras. This special edition is sure to please. As a fan, I wish that additional minutes (more then 5 to 10) were added so I may immerse myself in whichever land I choose to put in my DVD player.
